Runners who apply to climb the 1,665 steps of the World’s Most Famous Landmark will be notified of their race status via e-mail. Of the thousands of runners from around the world who enter the invitational for an opportunity to participate in the Verticale de la Tour Eiffel, only a select few will have the chance to participate.

Race entry is 50 EUR per applicant, 10 EUR will need to be paid for the registration, the remainder will only be charged once the applicant is notified of his or her selection as a participant. Upon registration, participants will need to provide evidence of their ability to meet this physical challenge (performance certificates).

The Verticale de la Tour Eiffel is a unique vertical running event. While other tower/vertical races take place in confined spaces of artificially lit stairwells, 'The Verticale' presents the participants with openness, fresh air and unparalleled views over the city of Paris.

The race was organised for the first time in 2015 and hosted runners from various disciplines of running including trail, road and track. Off the total of 100 runners, 61 were international competitors representing 16 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Spain, The United States of America, France, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdon, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Of the 100 participants, 40 international elite athletes will be selected by a committee of international experts and 50 amateur athletes will be selected by drawing lots. The remaining ten seats will be assigned by the organisers to pre-registered participants. To benefit from this procedure we encourage competitors to send us an application motivating their request to receive a wildcard.

2015 champions Piotr lobodziski (Pl) and Suzy Walsham (Aus) will defend their titles.
