10th Edition of the EcoTrail de Paris®

From March 16th-19th 2017, the EcoTrail de Paris® is back for its 10th edition. Through various courses, the EcoTrail de Paris® offers races/nature hikes accessible to everyone. This event has two objectives: highlighting the natural and cultural environment of the Ile-de-France region and demonstrating that mass events organization and eco-responsibility can work together.

The EcoTrail de Paris® in a few figures:

. 90% of trails on all courses

· 94 French departments represented/67 countries represented

. 13 000 expected participants

. 69 years, the age difference between the youngest and the oldest participant in 2016

. 13 events from 12 to 80 kilometers

. 1/4 of the runners participated for the 1st time in a trail

. 11 kg of collected waste on our different races in 2016 which represents 1.46g of effective pollution by runner

Created by the association Les Trailers de Paris-Ile de France, this event strives to promote running as an activity, more specifically through Trail running.

For this 10th edition, events have been spread out over the weekend:

  • Thursday: day dedicated to the Eiffel Tower Vertical (full ascent of the Eiffel Tower)
  • Saturday: day dedicated to Trails (time trial events)
  • Sunday: day dedicated to hikes and Nordic walking (discovery events)

TRAIL DAY – Saturday March 18th 2017

  • 80KM TRAIL:

There is something a bit crazy in this project, yet it is here to offer a nature race in the direct vicinity of Paris. In the end, doesn’t it make sense to try and design courses in the woods, forests and parks where runners come to practice every day, in order to highlight the natural and cultural heritage of this region?

Ile de loisirs de Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines, Domaine de St Philippe, Observatoire de Meudon, Domaine national de Saint Cloud, Forêts Domaniales de Versailles, Chaville, Meudon, Ile Saint Germain, Champ de Mars: all these exceptional places will be available for discovery thanks to the unique experience of an actual urban environment Trail running event following more than 90% of nature trails. Proof that a reasoned urban planning can keep its natural environment!

Date : Saturday March 18th 2017

Start time: 12:15 AM

Maximum finish time: 01:00 AM (Sunday March 19th)

Number of participants : Maximum 2,000 people

Maximum race time: H 12:45

Elevation gain: 1500 meters

  • 45KM TRAIL:

With 5 kilometers less in the 2017 edition (50km Trail in 2016), the 45km Trail is the perfect transition challenge for runners used to bitumen who want to turn to nature running. The 45km Trail will start in the royal setting of the Gardens of Versailles. Less demanding than the 80km Trail, this challenge is a great alternative for runners willing to dabble with long distance trail running.

Date : Saturday March 18th 2017

Start time: from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM (wave starts)

Maximum finish time: 07:30 PM

Number of participants: Maximum 2,000 people

Maximum race time: H 08:15

Elevation gain: 900 meters

  • 30KM TRAIL:

Make the EcoTrail de Paris® accessible to the highest number of runners is the main thrust of the Trailers de Paris, and this event is a perfect illustration of this motivation. It is halfway between the 18km Trail, a race for runners who want to discover the discipline, and the 45km and 80km Trails, which are longer and more selective races.

Date : Saturday March 18th 2017

Start time:  from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM (wave starts)

Maximum finish time: 03:30 PM

Number of participants: Maximum 3,500 people

  • 18KM TRAIL:

In 2016, the 18km Trail became a true time trial nature footrace, following mostly non-bitumen trails on an 18 kilometers stretch with around 400 meters of elevation gain. This race allows you to run in pair with the person of your choice, with all combination possible (wife, husband, child, friend, colleague, stranger), in order to reach the finish line in a spirit of conviviality and sharing.

Date : Saturday March 18th 2017

Start time: from 08:30 AM to 09:00 AM (wave starts)

Maximum finish time: 01:00 PM

Number of participants: maximum 4,000 people

In the continuation of the Trail events, the “Randos Destinations Nature by EcoTrail de Paris®” are also the concretization of the EcoTrail de Paris® and the Salon Destinations Nature objective to make accessible to the highest number the cultural and natural heritage of the Ile-de-France region.

To this date, walking is still number one in the most prevalent sporting activities practiced by French people.

For the 2017 edition, the race will start from 4 different French departments of the Ile-de-France region (75, 78, 94 95), and will end in the Village EcoTrail de Paris Ile-De-France®, at the Salon Destinations Nature, at Porte de Versailles (Hall 4). The “Randos Destinations Nature by EcoTrail de Paris®” offer courses from 15km to 25km stretches, following unacknowledged trails of the Ile-de-France region.

The Salon Destinations Nature is the meeting place for nature lovers. Dedicated to outdoor sports, themed hiking, Nordic walking, trail running and adventure travelling, it is an indispensable venue.

Objective Paris 2024! In order to support the candidacy of Paris for the 2024 Olympics, we will be happy to show you the future Olympic sites.

To go a little further:

To this day, the EcoTrail® has 6 events spread out over the year in various European cities: Brussels, Funchal, Paris, Oslo, but also Madrid (first edition on November 12th 2016) and Stockholm (first edition on June 17th 2017).
