EXCEPTIONAL ASCENT RACE LA VERTICALE DE LA TOUR EIFFEL RETURNS ON MARCH 17, 2016

90 elite and amateur athletes selected

15 December 2015, Paris, France - La Verticale de la Tour Eiffel® has announced the first 90 participants. The 1,665 steps against-the-clock ascent race of the famous Parisian monument is a real sporting challenge. The vertical race is sensational because, in contrast to other international stair climb races, this race takes place in an open environment with a breathtaking view of Paris as a bonus.

The inauguration edition in 2015 welcomed 61 participants from 16 countries. The 2016 edition of the event has gathered even more interest, registrations were up by 30 percent, and more than 400 runners from 23 countries have pre-registered to get one of the 100 slots available for the March 17, 2016, race.

40 international elite athletes, selected by an international committee of running experts, as well as 50 amateur athletes, selected via a lottery, were announced this morning at a press conference in the Eiffel Tower. The remaining ten athletes will be selected by the EcoTrail organisation using a wild card system.
